Demonetisation: Shatrughan Sinha hails PM Narendra Modi, seeks committee under Advani

PATNA: Hailing Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his "bold" decision against blackmoney, senior BJP leader Shatrughan Sinha today suggested forming of a committee under veteran leader L K Advani to ease the trouble faced by the people ahead of salary day rush.
"It is a bold and timely decision of the PM which is well intended to fight black money," Sinha told PTI from Goa.

He said a committee of intellectuals and experts of other fields under Advani should be set up to suggest ways for the convenience of the people, particularly ahead of "salary day rush" in the new month, to withdraw their money.

With some of his recent tweets against demonetisation causing embarrassment for the party, the actor-turned BJP leader claimed he was the first to congratulate the PM for the decision to demonetise high value bank notes.

He, however, blamed some BJP leaders for "messing up" the implementation of demonetisation resulting in difficulty for the common people.

"I am sceptic about the implementation of the demonetisation policy as no proper home work was done ahead of it," he said without naming anyone.

Referring to his not being invited to the International Film Festival of India (IFFI) function at Panaji organised by I & B ministry with Entertainment society of Goa, the actor-turned-politician said, "I attended the function on request of some of my friends of FTII."

On criticism from Bihar BJP President Mangal Pandey and others including Leader of Opposition in state assembly Prem Kumar over his comments on demonetisation, Sinha said, "I don't want to react at comments of leaders responsible for the bad defeat of the party in Bihar (assembly) poll."

"They seem to be driven by the urge to gain cheap publicity by criticising me for my personal frank opinion which will do good to the party," he added.
