November 29, 2016
Junagadh: A day after creating havoc on a highway in Mangrol taluka of Junagadh district stinging nine commuters including four women compelling them to be hospitalized, wild honeybees today stung 3 mares (she-horses) to death at a different place in the district.
Police said that 3 mares owned by a local person were grazing in a field in Umrana village of Junagadh taluka when bees from a nearby hive suddenly attacked them.
A bird had hit the hive prompting the bees to swarm around and attacking the innocent mares grazing nearby. They stung them so badly that one of the mares died on the spot while two others succumbed during treatment in the veterinary hospital here.
Two locals were also stung by the bees who were also treated in a health facility.
