Ssangyong moves to Euro6 with Korando and Rexton LCVs

Ssangyong has introduced new 2.2-litre Euro6 engines to its Korando and Rexton car-derived light commercial vehicles.

The Korando is available as the CSE and the 4WD CSE 4x4 with prices starting from £13,995 and rising to £15,295, excluding VAT.

The new E-XDi220 turbo-diesel engine offers power output of 178hp coupled with torque of 400Nm – up 19.4% and 11% respectively compared to the outgoing 2.0-litre Euro5 engine.

Ssangyong claimed CO2 emissions on the CSE have been reduced to 139g/km from 147g/km with fuel consumption up to 53.3mpg from 47.1mpg.

The Korando combines a 433kg payload with a 1.3m3 load volume and has a towing capacity of 2.0-tonnes.
Paul Williams, Ssangyong’s UK boss, said: “This is a significant advance of our LCV range. The power upgrade brings greater refinement while Korando continues to deliver unrivalled levels of equipment and value.”

The 4x4 Rexton CSE van gets the same 2.2-litre engine and is priced from £19,495, excluding VAT, for the six-speed manual version, rising to £20,745 for a seven-speed automatic model.

Official fuel consumption for both derivatives is put at 40.4mpg with CO2 emissions of 184g/km.
The Rexton CSE has a 740kg payload, a 2.2m3 load area and can tow a 3.0-tonne trailer.

All Ssangyong LCVs come with a five-year, unlimited mileage warranty and Williams claimed: “No other brand offers the light van operator such a comprehensive warranty for complete peace of mind.”
