Police: Man raped woman after finding her dog
Authorities say a man raped an 18-year-old woman after finding and returning her lost dog. The Connecticut Post reports that 30-year-old Robert Rivera was released on $250,000 bond after being charged Monday with first-degree sexual assault and unlawful restraint. Police say the woman was home alone on July 28 when her dog ran away. She told investigators a short time later that Rivera, her neighbor, knocked on her door holding the dog. The woman says after she put the dog in her bedroom, Rivera grabbed her, threw her on a couch in the living room, and raped her as she screamed for help. Police say DNA connects Rivera to the crime. Rivera told investigators he found the dog but denied raping the girl.
