Latin American States Show Interest in Acquiring Russian Patrol Boats, Frigates

Latin American countries are interested in Russian patrol boats and frigates of the Mangust, Mirage, Svetlyak and Gepard classes, the Russian Federal Service For Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) said Tuesday.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) — FSMTC added that it was hoping to convert this interest into actual agreements.

"Prospective customers from Latin America are showing interest in Russian-made defense industrial products for the Naval Forces. We offer a wide range of products, including Project 12150 Mangust fast patrol boats, Project 14310 Mirage fast patrol boats, Project 10410 Svetlyak patrol boats, Project 11661 Gepard frigates and many others," FSMTC said in a statement obtained by RIA Novosti.

A major naval exhibition EXPONAVAL 2016 kicked off on Tuesday in the Chilean city of Valparaiso. The exhibition is open to companies that specialize in design, manufacturing or repair of naval equipment and personnel training.
