Gautam Rode is not quitting television for films. The Saraswatichandra actor will next be seen in Aksar 2, which is a sequel to the 2006 film that starred Emraan Hashmi. Ask Gautam why he chose to be a part of the thriller and he says everything is great about Aksar 2.

Aksar 2 has been directed by Anant Mahadevan and also stars Zareen Khan and Lillete Dubey. This is Gautam’s fourth Bollywood outing. In an exclusive chat with indianexpress.com, the television hunk said, “It is a good project to work on. It is good to be working with Anant ji and Narendra ji (producer Narendra Jha). I am really happy to be part of Aksar 2. I love my character. All great things are attached to the project.”

The prequel Aksar was also a thriller and had Dino Morea and Udita Goswami, alongside Emraan Hashmi. But does that mean there is any comparison between Gautam and Emraan’s roles?

“There’s no pressure of comparisons (with Emraan Hashmi) because the film is totally different, the script is new. There are no similarities except the makers,” Gautam cleared.

Festive offer

Gautam was earlier seen in films like Annarth, U, Bomsi & Me and Agyaat. However, his television shows have brought him more fame than his films. Does Gautam’s slow and steady move towards shifting base to Bollywood hint that he is quitting television? “Not at all. The thing with television is that if you do a daily soap then your dates get blocked and you are not able to do anything else. If a weekly show comes up, I might consider it.”

Gautam was last seen in television shows Maha Kumbh and Suryaputra Karn. His earlier shows like Teri Meri Love Stories, Parichay, Babul Ka Aangann Chootey Na and Baa Bahoo Aur Baby made him a household name. But his fans might have to wait a bit to see him back on television. “It all depends on my schedule. There is a film in the pipeline. If things work out, I will be shooting the whole of December and January. Demonetisation has hit everyone positively and negatively. So, I hope all my projects stay intact.”
