From Richard Owusu-Akyaw, Kumasi
“Don't be part of any political violence. Entreat your brothers, friends, and family members to avoid any political extremism which could throw this country into chaos,” the General Secretary of Christ Apostolic Church International, Dr. E. O. K. Donkor, has urged Ghanaians ahead of next week's general elections.

In a keynote address at the matriculation of 152 students of the Christ Apostolic University College (CAUC), Dr. Donkor urged the students to stay away from electoral violence and study hard, stressing it is his prayer that they would be faithful, so that God may grant them great mercies, to enable them study peacefully.

The General Secretary reminded the students that Ghana needs absolute peace, before, during, and after the elections.

The President of Christ Apostolic University College (CAUC), Prof. Philip Owiredu Yeboah, urged Ghanaian students to be entrepreneurship conscious and set up their own businesses upon completion of their university education.

He told the students that the measure of educational success is the ability for an individual, not just to get a job and pay recurrent bills after completing secular education, but rather to be able to create jobs for themselves and others, thereby running a profitable venture that creates wealth for their families, communities and Ghana at large.

Prof Yeboah noted at the university's 6th matriculation ceremony that courses such as hospitality and tourism management and communication design are designed to fit students into any profession they find themselves in upon completing school.

He said: “Academic achievement is one means by which you achieve employability. But to attain the final objective of being employable and entrepreneurial, you have to apply yourself to gaining knowledge, developing skills, and finally, being assessed to see how well you have managed this.”

The varsity head reminded students of the numerous problems facing Ghana, and told the matriculants that they will be equipped with skills and knowledge to solve problems as the primary reason why they are at the CAUC.

The academician urged students to be serious by attending and paying attention at lectures, tutorials, seminars and workshops, or laboratory sessions.
