Hyundai Motor India awards best dealer technicians at National Skill Olympics

Hyundai Motor India yesterday concluded its 9th National Skill Olympics fest at its manufacturing plant in Sriperumbudur near Chennai.

The inter-dealership competition identifies skill and honours the best talents amongst dealer technicians nationwide.

Speaking on the occasion YK Koo, MD and CEO of Hyundai Motor India said, “Excellent service forms an integral part of the entire product experience in delighting the customers at Hyundai. We motivate our technicians by giving them global exposure and learning, ensuring their skills are sharpened to meet global Hyundai excellence standards.”

Every year Hyundai conducts a series of training programmes to systematically upgrade and refresh the skills of technicians and familiarise them with the latest technological developments. This year over 1,100 service workshops and more than 5,102 technicians participated in this skill fest. The contest kicked-off on August 23,2016, at Hyundai dealerships across India, followed by state level competitions in September and zonal level competitions in October.

Out of the total participants, 18 zonal champions qualified for the finale of the 9th National Skill Olympics held at Chennai. The participants were tested for their ability to spot technical simulated problems in cars and components and resolve them to meet international standards. The skill fest also evaluated the technician’s adaptability to the concept of digital service, namely, Workshop Automation. The contest also consisted of multiple rounds of practical and written tests.

Yasin Shaikh Umar (1st) from Singh Hyundai, Pune; Pradip Kumar Saha (2nd) from Mukesh Hyundai, Kolkata and Rampadarth Chaudhary (3rd) from Samara Hyundai, New Delhi, were declared the winners of the competition. Further, three other runners up were also declared who were awarded with cash prizes, certificates and trophies.
