Gold bar robbery in Ahmedabad: Parents of brother-sister duo arrested

Police said that the parents had knowledge of the crime and rather than stopping their children they encouraged them. Officials said that from the cell phones of the accused they have collected evidence including Whatapp messages Komal sent to Sagar instructing him to “be safe”.

Police said that Sagar’s father Satram also abated the crime while concealing the gold bars in his another house in Vastral area.

According to police, the entire family is allegedly involved in the crime to get rid of heavy debt that Sagar had accumulated over the past several years. On Sunday, the DCB officials have stated in a press release the Sagar had incurred debt of Rs11 lakh while betting on cricket through a bookie, Vikas Tripathi, a resident of Sanand.

According to police, Sagar had an outstanding bill of more than Rs4.5 lakh to a hookah bar.

“To pay the debts that brother-sister duo had planned to rob SIS SIS cash logistics firm at Mithakhali. Both had done a recee before finally executing their plan in the wee hours of Saturday,” police said. The robbery had been caputred in the CCTV footage.
