2 hurt as school bus overturns

SOLAN: A Class VIII student and a bus conductor sustained minor injuries when the school bus (HP-71-0726) they were travelling in turned turtle in Santoshgarh area of Paonta Sahib around 8 am and fell into nearby fields.

A Class VIII student and a bus conductor sustained minor injuries when the school bus (HP-71-0726) they were travelling in turned turtle in Santoshgarh area of Paonta Sahib around 8 am and fell into nearby fields.

Confirming the news, the Paonta Sahib DSP said the accident occurred due to the negligence of bus driver Nikku Ram, who was in an inebriated state while driving the bus. At the time of the accident, there were about seven students aboard the bus while the rest were supposed to be picked up from various destinations. The bus belonged to Jindal Public School.

The DSP said the driver had been arrested and a case under Sections 279 and 337 of the IPC and Section 185 of the MVA registered against him. The medical examination also corroborated the fact that the driver was driving the bus under the influence of liquor.
