MORADABAD/ AMROHA: Supporters slain gangster Shauqat Pasha on Monday lifted his body from National Highway 24 after police received a copy of the compliant to register an FIR against cabinet minister Mehboob Ali and his family members.
Thousands of Turk community members and supporters of Pasha went on the rampage on Sunday evening on the highway near Joya, Amroha. The protesters were demanding that an FIR be registered against state cabinet minister Mehboob Ali and his relatives for the alleged murder of Pasha.
Traffic on NH 24 was halted for 15 hours which resulted in a massive jam on both the sides of the highway. A heavy police force was deployed but they could not do much to clear the highway as the mob went berserk.
On Monday morning, funeral procession of Pasha was taken out at Fatheypur Tikya village after senior police and the administrative officials assured the protesters that action would be be taken against the offenders within three days. The circle officer had received the “tahreeer” copy of the complaint to register an FIR from the slain gangster’s brother, Mughees Pasha.
Former MP from Moradabad and Sambhal, Shafeeq ur Rehman Barq and the other prominent Turk community leaders also reached Fatheypur Tikya to register their protest against Pasha’s murder. Barq said, “It’s a matter of grave concern that police have not registered an FIR against the offenders in a murder case and allowed law and order situation to deteriorate.”
Mughees Pasha alleged that his brother was slain due to political vendetta at the behest of the minister. He added that Shauqat Pasha was planning to contest the assembly polls against Mehboob Ali from Amroha seat.
In his compliant, Mughees alleged that Pasha had received a call from the petrol pump owner on his mobile phone and asked to visit it at Menather, Moradabad, where he was shot dead. Three bullets were pumped into Pasha’s head and he died on the spot.

According to police, 51 criminal cases, including murder, dacoity and robbery, are registered against Pasha in New Delhi and various police stations in western uttar pardesh districts . Pasha was first arrested in 1986 in a robbery case. After his release from jail, he become an active member of the Asalm gang and committed several dacoities and robberies, police said. He was currently out on bail.
Pasha is said to have had an old rivalry with the pradhan Bhura of his village. Bhura is the younger brother of Mehboob ali. Pasha was first arrested in 1986 in a robbery case. But after his release from the jail he become an active member of 'Asalm gang ' and committed several Dacoities and Robberies, police said.
