Edina and Patsy fans will be devastated to hear that Jennifer Saunders has stomped out the possibility of filming more Absolutely Fabulous, saying this year's movie spin-off was a send-off for the beloved characters.

The 58-year-old actress said that this year's box office hit Absolutely Fabulous: The Movie will most definitely be the last fans will see of Edina Monsoon and Patsy Stone.

In an interview with The Daily Mail, she said: "I'm not doing anything more with Ab Fab. That's it."

When pressed if she was sure, she said firmly: "That. Is. It. I can't see the point of doing anything else with it, really.

"It just takes so long. There's lots of other stuff I'd like to do. Plus I'd like to spend time with my grandchildren.

"So, if I did Ab Fab as well that would just stop me doing anything new, or thinking of any other ideas or having a different job or whatever."

The much-loved British series first hit screens in 1992 and ran for five series, the last of which was broadcast in 2003. Since then, the show has had numerous special episodes, culminating in the big-screen adaptation this year.

When it was suggested that Ab Fab could come back as a musical, Saunders said "We'd be so old. This is like taking geriatrics out now.

"I don't know how long I can say to Julia [Sawalha, who played played the long-suffering Saffy], 'Can you come back and would you wear those awful clothes again?'"
