Bengaluru - In India, the Bosch Group has its presence in the mining industry with Bosch Rexroth offering drive and control solutions and other divisions offering fuel injection systems for mining equipment and security technologies. To gain deeper penetration, Bosch will be tying up with local system integrators for retrofit projects to offer end-to-end solutions. 'Bosch has developed value added application solutions that help minimize downtime and lower life cycle cost for the user,' commented Dr. Steffen Berns, president Bosch Group India and managing director, Bosch Limited. India's mining industry is expected to grow in line with the country's GDP growth forecast. Bosch India expects its business in this sector to grow significantly over the five years.

Bosch Rexroth India will offer its customers Large Hydraulic Drives (LHD) suitable for Low Speed High Torque (LSHT) applications and after market for OHW vehicles in mobile applications to cater to this segment. Anticipating that projected growth Bosch will gradually expand its team over the next five years. Focusing primarily on the south, west and east of India, the team aims to expand its operations outside of the country as well. 'Our team in India will look to cater to growing needs of neighboring countries like Bangladesh and Sri Lanka,' commented Mr. Hans Bangert, managing director, Bosch Rexroth India Pvt. Ltd.

Target local system integrators for retrofit projects

Bosch Rexroth India will specifically be targeting bulk material handling. Preparing for future growth the Group will focus on the implementation of sales and service team for large hydraulic drives. 'To improve our focus in this segment Bosch Rexroth India will be redefining its focus with respect to large hydraulic drives aftermarket strategy. Going beyond, we will also be engaging with local system integrators for retrofit projects to ensure end- to- end solution to customers,' mentioned Mr. Bangert.

Across the globe, there has been significant investment and expansion in many industrial segments requiring heavy-duty material handling systems. These applications are often operating continuously, lift and transport loads ranging from hundreds of pounds to several tons of material, and are frequently located in environments- mines, power plants, shipyards, ports and terminals-with rugged operating conditions. There are several technologies currently used to power and drive these material handling systems. However, the large hydraulic direct drive system has become an effective and widely used solution for a growing number of applications where a heavy mass needs to be moved under variable speeds using a system that can handle 'shock' loads (sudden increase in the weight and mass of loads being moved) with the ability to deliver energy-efficient and reliable performance-often operating 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year.

Bosch Rexroth's Large Hydraulic Drive is energy efficient, offers greater protection from harsh conditions, improved and reliable start/stop operation with unlimited number of starts and stops. This compact technology from Bosch is having high power to weight ratio and requires smaller space than conventional electromechanical systems. In addition, this technology also offers higher equipment uptime, user friendly maintenance, and improved reliability along with lower cost of ownership compared to traditional electromechanical systems.
