A clash broke out between the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Chhatra Jan Shakti Sangh during polling for student's elections on Sunday.

DHANBAD : A clash broke out between the Akhil Bhartiya Vidyarthi Parishad (ABVP) and Chhatra Jan Shakti Sangh during polling for student's elections on Sunday. ABVP district general secretary Rahul Kumar sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Patliputra Medical College Hospital (PMCH) for treatment.
At least ten students were detained after police intervened and brought the situation under control.
Chhatra Jan Shakti Sangh leader and deputy mayor representative Raj Anand was arrested by Saraidhela police.
Speaking to TOI, Rahul Kumar said that students restored to proxy voting by producing fake identity cards. He also accused the college administration of not monitoring the election process well.
A minor violence also broke out in RS More College in Govindpur, however, the college administration and police authorities managed to bring the situation under control.
Meanwhile, while the electoral process passed off peacefully in other colleges, the voter turnout proved to be very less. SSLNT Women College recorded a turnout of 8.6%, Guru Nanak College 22%, Law College 48% and other colleges registered a turnout of less than 50%.
Polling ended at 3 pm and counting began soon thereafter. Nikita Sharma of ABVP was elected as president of SSLNT Women College.
