Five of a family faint after taking toxic tea

rawalpindi - Five members of a family, including a child, fell unconscious after taking toxic tea in the Thatta Village of Union Council (UC) Tarahiya, sources informed here yesterday.

The fainted family members were earlier moved to a private clinic at Gorakhpur area from where the doctor referred them to the Benazir Bhutto Hospital because of their critical condition. Rescue 1122 shifted the victims to the BBH for medical treatment.

The five victims were identified as Muhammad Yaqoob (75), Furqaat Bibi (50), Ayesha (23), Bilal (17) and a child Ahmed (1).   The matter was reported to Rawat police after a team rushed to the BBH and recorded statements of the victims on hospital bed. 

A doctor told The Nation condition of the child was critical whereas other victims were out of danger. On the other hand, a team of Punjab Food Authority also reached the hospital and inquired the matter from the heirs of the victims.

Locals told The Nation that a lizard was found in the milk that was used for preparing the tea.
