Neha Sharma murder case: Charges framed against lab technician for tampering with evidence

An Agra court on Saturday framed charges against Yashveer Sandhu, a lab technician accused in the Neha murder case for allegedly tampering with evidences and helping the killer. Neha Sharma, 23-year-old Ph.D researcher was found dead with multiple wounds in a laboratory of Agra’s Dayal Bagh Educational Institute on March 2013.

The CBI had filed chargesheet in January this year against Uday Swaroop, a final-year BSc student, had allegedly killed Neha after she spurned his overtures.

Sandhu was earlier given clean chit by CBI in the case. CBI sources claimed that the lab technician was likely aware of Swaroop’s intentions, but was not complicit in the crime.

ADJ-9 Anmol Pal Singh on Saturday, apart from framing charges, the has fixed December 23 as the next date of hearing in the case on which Neha’s father Richpal Sharma will be giving his statements.

In its chargesheet filed in the court of the Additional Sessions Judge-9 (Agra) earlier in January, the probe agency said Swaroop had raped and killed the young woman when she was alone in the lab.

Agra Police had earlier slapped murder charges against Sandhu, the lab technician. The CBI chargesheet lifted those charges and maintained that Swaroop and Neha Sharma were the only ones present at the spot at the time of the crime.
