New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India on Sunday said it has put in place a digital payment system for car parking charges at all its airports that would commence e-transactions from November 29.

New Delhi: The Airports Authority of India on Sunday said it has put in place a digital payment system for car parking charges at all its airports that would commence e-transactions from November 29. Consequently, free parking services provided with effect from November 14 will end at all operational airports, the AAI said in a release here. Transactions can be made through debit/credit cards and other digital payment methods. PTI 


30 days more for insurance premium  

New Delhi: Extending a helping hand to people facing a cash crunch, regulator Insurance Regulatory and Development Authority of India has asked life insurance companies to provide an additional window of 30 days to policy holders for paying premium for policies falling due between November 8 and December 31. "All life insurers are advised to comply," said the circular addressed to CEOs of the life insurance companies. PTI


Rs 32,631 cr deposited in 1.55 lakh post offices  

New Delhi: People have deposited a staggering Rs 32,631 crore in nearly 1.55 lakh post offices across the country. The post offices have also exchanged about Rs 3,680 crore of old currency notes between November 10 and 24, Department of Posts Secretary BV Sudhakar said. About 1.30 lakh post offices in rural areas and the rest 25,000 in urban and semi-urban areas are playing a "prominent role" in the entire exercise, he added. 


Law-enforcing agencies remain unaffected 

New Delhi: Demonetisation will have no impact on investigating agencies which possess a huge cache of old Rs 1,000 and Rs 500 notes, seized over the years as case property, with their officials saying the cash was "government accounted money" and could be deposited in banks till December 30. While the ED and Delhi Police said they would have no problem, the CBI preferred maintained the issue was "under examination". PTI


RBI allows banks to park old notes at dist chests  

Mumbai: To decongest storage facility of banks of old Rs 500 or Rs 1,000 notes, the RBI has allowed lenders to park such currencies at currency chests at the district level in view of mounting deposits due to the domonetisation drive. The central bank said a currency chest operating at the point to be called designated chest will be required to operate a separate vault-to be named Chest Guarantee Vault-as an extended arm of it. Demonetised notes found burnt in Maha  

Mumbai: Demonetised notes were found shredded and burnt in Akola town in east Maharashtra, police said. The incident occurred on Friday morning when some pieces of the scrapped currency notes were found burning in a lane near a housing society. The pieces police salvaged are to the tune of Rs 58,000. ASP Vijaykant Sagar said a conservation worker spotted smoke in the service lane of a housing society and alerted locals. PTI


Gujarat traders seek PM’s, RBI intervention  

Vadodara: Ruing that their business has virtually come to a standstill post currency ban, traders in Gujarat have sought intervention of the Centre, the state and RBI to tide over the liquidity shortage. The Gujarat chapter of the Confederation of All India Traders has said Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani and RBI should intervene more to resolve the issue of cash crunch. PTI


Employees urge govt to pay salary in cash 

Puducherry: The Puducherry State Government Employees' Central Federation on Sunday urged the Puducherry administration to ensure that it paid the current month's salary in cash. Federation president P Lakshmanasamy said a letter was presented recently to the Lt Governor, the CM, Chief Secretary and Finance Secretary. The pay day is November 30 and if they were to stand in the queue there would be difficulties for them, he said. PTI


Govt steps up efforts to trace Swiss a/c details 

New Delhi: Stepping up efforts to trace black money parked abroad, India has shot off at least 20 “administrative assistance” requests to Switzerland in recent months seeking details of Indians suspected to have misused Swiss banks to evade taxes. The individuals and companies about whom India has requested for information include at least three listed companies, former CEO of a real estate major, wife of a Delhi-based former bureaucrat.
