The rumours about the death of Marathi actor Dilip Prabhavalkar (Prabhawalkar) started doing the rounds, and his name was  reportedly mistaken with veteran journalist Dilip Padgaonkar. The latter breathed his last at a hospital in Pune on Friday. While Padgaonkar was renowned author, editor and columnist. Dilip Prabhavalkar is a veteran actor known for his exceptional acting chops in movies such as Chaukat Raja. The man also played some  really remarkable chracter in Bollywood movies such as Sarkar Raj and Lagey Raho Munnabhai. Social media was quick to declared the hox death messages and obituaries were quickly written about the Marathi actor. Some were quick to express their condolences.  Even Bollywood actor Paresh Rawal took to Twiiter to express his shock. He tweeted: “Deeply saddened n shocked by the news that a veteran of Marathi theatre n a great actor shri Dilip Prabhawalkar is no more … AUM SHANTI.” tweeted Rawal. Later Rawal apologised for his mistake. “Extremely sorry for mixing up the name in my last tweet n wish a healthy n a happy life to my friend Shri Dilip Prabhawalkar.” he expressed.

Mercifully. many on Twitters were quick to express Rawal’s mistake so that this hoax was prevented from spreading. Here are some of the comments  on Twitter that corrected Rawal.

Padgaonkar’s death has saddened the media circle and scholars. Even President Pranab Mukherjee paid his respect to the man. was a man of many talents and passions. He served with UNESCO for several years, was an author and essayist, wrote with flair on the arts and also served as an interlocutor for Jammu and Kashmir, it added. Seventy-two-year-old Padgaonkar, a former editor of The Times of India, was unwell for the past several weeks and died at a hospital in Pune today. As an editor, Padgaonkar performed his role with distinction, he was regarded as a liberal and was an ardent advocate of the freedom of the media. His column on contemporary issues was widely appreciated.

Padgaonkar was admitted to a hospital in Pune after he suffered a heart attack on November 18. Later, he suffered multiple organ failure and was on dialysis after his kidneys stopped functioning. He breathed his last, while undergoing treatment at the hospital on Friday morning.
