Kolkata: Six arrested for duping man of Rs 34 lakh

According to sources the accused managed to retrieve the complainant’s bank details and later deactivated his SIM card.

Police on Saturday arrested six persons for allegedly duping Rs 34 lakh from a man. According to police, Basant Kumar Baid approached them complaining of having been duped of the said amount from his account.

“It is a case of inter- state forgery racket”, said Joint CP (Crime ) Vishal Garg.

The accused have been identified as Ananda Mohan Ghosh (35) of Parnashree, Jahar Pandit (59) of Hooghly, Gulam Murtaza Khan (44) of Bokaro, Jharkhand, Subrata Saha (44) of Belghoria, Sadhu Paswan (48) of Dhanbad and Mukhtar Alam (54) of Jamshedpur, Jharkhand.

According to sources the accused managed to retrieve the complainant’s bank details and later deactivated his SIM card. The accused later duplicated the SIM card and used it to access bank accounts of the victim to transfer money from the account.
