Weddings are super hectic, and while we take care of all the big things, at times we just forget to look after the basic necessities, especially the must-haves in a bride's wardrobe. We got in touch with Sidhika Gupta, Head of Fashion at Roposo, to draw down a list of 10 items that must be on your trousseau shopping list, only to ensure that you turn out to be the most gorgeous bride ever!

1. The classic Banarasi sari

A Banarasi masterpiece has been an indispensable part of your mother’s closet since forever. What better time than now to own one for yourself. Banarasi fabric has a princess like charm that’s difficult to ignore. It’s the quintessential, numero-uno style you must invest in. Complement your Banarasi with an embellished golden blouse and flaunt your sexy back. An alluring back-revealing blouse will put you right under the spotlight. 2. Golden lehenga

This is a showstopper despite being a cliché part of every bride’s wardrobe. You can team it up with a blunted bell-sleeves blouse to make jaws drop all across the wedding hall. Alternatively, you could choose one in an anarkali style or pair the lehenga with a straight-fit kurta. (Reynu Tandon, ICW 2016)

3. A multipurpose Indian jacket

The jacketed look is precious because it is the one style that can be flaunted during intermediate wedding events, for the romantic post-wedding date, as well as for the grand family dinner. Pair the jacket with a distressed denim piece to sport a modern-yet- ethnic look. Or you could choose some chic cigarette pants. Not just your significant other but his whole clan is bound to be awestruck! (Rohit Bal, ICW 2016)

4. Blingy footwear

Get your hands on a sturdy pair of golden or silver-coloured sandals. No amount of bling is too much for a bride, so don’t fret about outshining the rest of the gathering. Put your most fashionable foot forward, pairing the sandals with outfits of complementing colours. Just make sure you choose a heel height that keeps you comfortable throughout the ceremonies. (Rose gold stilettos, Tresmode)

5. Mojris/ Kolhapuris

Needledust - Drama Gold

While heels look fab, you cannot be wearing them always. Mojris and Kolhapuris are a great footwear choice - both traditional and comfortable. You could choose simple and classic Kolhapuris for the smaller events, and pick a pair with colourful, ethnic embellishments including mirrors, ghungroo and embroidery, for the grander ceremonies. (Gold jutti, Needledust)

6. Classic embellished clutch

Yes, there will be many family members and friends swarming around you to make sure you are treated like a princess. And yes, no one will expect you to carry a heavy shoulder bag. But a classy clutch ensures that you are not dependent on anyone during the rituals for basics like your makeup and phone, in addition to allowing you to make a great fashion statement. So, go ahead and choose an embellished minaudière to match your wedding dress. (Gold clutch, Whiting & Davis)

7. Two words - Sexy. Lingerie.

Need we say more? There are a variety of lingerie types you can choose from. In case you are flaunting a backless or low-cut dress, it is advisable to pick a strapless bra. Also, avoid wearing satin and lace inners as they will make you feel uncomfortable by the end of the day. (Meg alluring bra, Stella Mccartney lingerie @ Matchesfashion.com)

8. Comfortable night wear

Don’t forget about your wardrobe for those leisure hours post the hectic events. Carefully choose a few items for night wear - should include a comfortable bath robe, soft pyjamas, and easy-to- slip-on ganjees. (Lace camisole, Coco de mer)

9. Versatile vanity box

Vanity-Box

Your vanity kit is bound to carry the traditional paraphernalia that symbolises happy matrimony- such as the red bindi, sindoor, etc. But don’t forget to be a fashionista and a multi-tasking girl of the 21st century, taking care of last-minute mishaps all by yourself by including a tiny sewing kit, safety pins, nail filer, tweezer, and bobby pins in your box. 10. Contemporary jewellery

Jewellery

Let the two families pamper you with the inevitable stone-studded necklaces and heavy gold earrings. But make sure you have the best of both worlds by also choosing some modern designer jewellery for yourself. Pick out an interesting kamarband, a statement ring, midi rings, dainty ankles or stylish ear-cuffs, and add oomph to your wedding look. An interesting jewellery piece is a good conversation starter, isn’t that all you need as a new bride! (Crystal headpiece, Astha Jagwani @ Ogaan.com)

We hope these things help you get through the most memorable days of your life (read the wedding week) without any fuss!
