Con-man tries to buy booze using 'xeroxed' 2000 rupee note at Nagapattinam

Upon taking a closer look Babu the salesman of state run TASMAC  was shocked to see that the currency note was a 'color photocopy' of the Re 2000  note.

The state government run TASMAC liquor shop at Kacheri road, in Mayiladuthurai at Nagapattinam district became talk of the day as fake currency of the newly introduced 2000 rupee note was spotted.

YOUTH ASKS FOR BRANDED LIQUOR

Following Chief Minister Jayalalithaa's orders, the government run liquor shops open by 12pm. Shortly after opening, a man in his 20s approached the counter and asked for some branded liquor from the shop.

Babu, the salesman brought the liquor and asked for the money. The man gave him a newly released 2000 rupee note. Babu was out of change and insisted to give change for the booze.

But the man said that he had no other money and Babu reluctantly took the 2000 rupee note but found something different with it. When he asked the customer why this note looks different, the customer tried to snatch the note over the counter tearing it into two parts. But Babu got hold of the other piece as well.

Upon taking a closer look Babu was shocked to see that the currency note was a 'color photocopy' of the Re 2000 note.

The con-man ran away and Babu immediately notified the police who have initiated an investigation.

This is the second incident of its kind in Tamil Nadu. Earlier, a salesman in TASMAC shop was conned the same way at Thiruvannamalai where two crooks gave a 'xeroxed' 2000 rupee note and escaped with liquor and change.
