2 killed as truck collides in Dhar

INDORE: Two persons were killed in a collision between two trucks at Ganesh Ghat in Dhamnod area of Dhar district on Saturday.
The accident took place early in the morning when brakes of a Khalghat-bound truck from Indore failed and it moved downhill in reverse direction, Dhamnod police said. Cleaner of the truck, which was carrying sacks of wheat, jumped from the vehicle and tried to stop it by throwing boulders under the tyres.
But, the truck jumped the divider on to the wrong side colliding head-on with a container truck moving towards Indore from Maharashtra, they said adding drivers of both the trucks died on the spot.
The deceased were identified as Maniram of Jhansi and Santosh of Azamgarh. The wheat from the truck spilled on the road. The vehicle got placed in such a manner after the collision that the traffic was blocked on the AB Road.
Police teams reached the spot and cleared the debris. The traffic resumed after two hours. The Ganesh Ghat section of the road near Dhamnod has emerged as a severe accident prone zone due to the manner in which the road was constructed and the placement of speed breakers.
