Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny may admittedly finish his career at the Emirates, or return to his former side Lorient, where he plied his trade before moving to Arsenal in 2010.
Contract at its tail-end
The ball-playing defender has a little over two years left on his current deal with the Gunners with the London outfit interested in extending his stay at the Emirates according to reports from Sky Sports.
Koscielny was full of praise for Wenger as he said: “It was Arsene Wenger who had the courage to buy me from Lorient when I was nobody. I’d had one year at an average club in Ligue 1 and he took a big punt in bringing me to one of the 10 biggest clubs in Europe.”
He added: “I am in the French national team thanks to the boss and I will be grateful to him my entire career. I will finish my career in England or at my old club Lorient but I love living in London.”
Long-serving
The 31-year-old has amassed 179 league appearances for Arsenal, scoring 17 goals which is a fair return compared to that of other long-serving defenders in the Premier League.
He’s also got 42 national team caps under his belt and one goal to his name for Les Bleus since he earned his first cap back in 2011.
Koscielny is strong in the air and good with the ball at his feet, although he’s yet to win a league title with Arsenal, he definitely deserves to be recognised as one of the club’s most iconic players in recent times.
