Amrita Singh pulls out of 'Mubarakan' at last minute, Ratna Pathak Shah comes for rescue

Ratna Pathak Shah has stepped in to replace Amrita Singh in the Arjun Kapoor-starrer wedding comedy Amrita Singh who played Arjun Kapoor's overbearing Punjabi mother in Abhishek Varman's '2 States' was set to reunite with her screen son in Anees Bazmee's 'Mubarakan' which also features his uncle Anil Kapoor.

While shooting for the wedding-comedy kicked off in Chandigarh , Amrita pulled out of the project at the last minute, leaving the makers scrambling for a replacement.Now, we hear that Ratna Pathak Shah has replaced Amrita as Arjun's mum and owing to the change, the shooting schedules have undergone an overhaul too.
A source in the know reveals, 'Amrita was to play Arjun's mother who is Anil Kapoor's elder sister. Just a few days before the film was to roll, the actress informed the team that she can't do the film. Now, Ratna's dates will have to be taken into consideration because of which the international schedule, set for December, has been pushed to next year.' The makers recently completed a recce across the UK where a major part of the film will be shot.
Producer Murad Khetani confirmed the news to Mirror, saying, 'Amrita couldn't do the film due to date issues and we have Ratna on board. Her portion which was initially scheduled to be shot in November-December in London will now happen sometime in January. The Punjab schedule, originally planned for January, is being shot now ."
Mubarakan revolves around an extended Punjabi family that attends a destination wedding in the UK. It also stars Ileana D'ruz, Athiya Shetty and Neha Sharma as Arjun's leading ladies. Arjun will be seen playing a double role as Karanveer Singh and Charanveer Singh.
