Brothel to married life, she’s come a long way
The world around her shattered when the 20-year-old Nandini was sold to a Mumbai brothel by her uncle.
Scarred for life and exploited for over two years in the human squalor, the gutsy Bengali-speaking girl was was definately not the one to be resigned to fate. In spite of a round-the-clock physical surveillance, the girl persisted with her plan and soon found a saviour in one of her client Salim.
She shared her ordeal and prevailed upon Salim to seek help from an NGO to get her out as she had not even seen the sunlight since her captivity in the red-light area.

Salim contacted the National Federation of Indian women an NGO for help and she was finally rescued from the place after a long time.
Salim not only helped Nandini get out of the trauma and the bitter experience of her life, but also decided to married her.
The couple has moved on with life and together run a small establishment in Thane working as jewellery artisans. -- Shrutika Sukhi
