Dileep and Kavya Madhavan wedding: Aamir Khan, Kamal Haasan, Sanjay Dutt – List of 15 film celebrities who got married more than once!

Malayalam actors Dileep and Kavya Madhavan's wedding reminded us of some other film celebrities who married twice or thrice.

Malayalam actors Dileep and Kavya Madhavan‘s wedding took place in Ernakulam on Friday, November 25, in an event which was live streamed on Facebook Live. Dileep was earlier married to Manju Warrier and the couple got divorced recently. Kavya Madhavan and Dileep therefore had kept their wedding date and time a secret and only select guests knew about it. However, Dileep announced his wedding on Facebook with a touching post for his fans. He said right before his wedding on Facebook (translated), “I am here to tell you about a big event happening in my life today. I am getting married today. When I thought of a marriage, I discussed it with my daughter, her mother, my friends and family and arrived at a decision. My partner is a person who has been linked to me in gossip magazines. I earnestly hope all Malayalis and people around the world who love me would shower your blessings on us and remember us in your prayers. Please do not create controversies out of this. Bless us instead.”

Here’s wishing Dileep and Kavya a very happy married life! But meanwhile, we decided to take a look at some Indian celebrities from showbiz who got married more than once – after a divorce or the death of a spouse, that is. Take a look!

1. Aamir Khan

Aamir Khan married his sweetheart Reena Dutta in 1986  and remained married to her for the longest time. Right after his blockbuster movie Lagaan (2001) went to the Oscars and was selected in the Top 5 Foreign Language Films by the Academy, the couple announced their decision to divorce each other citing irreconcilable differences. The couple parted ways amicably and continue to meet for family gatherings, Aamir’s film premieres and when they are with their children Junaid Khan and Ira Khan.

Aamir Khan later married his assistant director on Lagaan, a much younger and spunky Kiran Rao who went on to be a filmmaker herself with the film Dhobi Ghat: Mumbai Diaries (2011) that starred her husband as one of the important characters. Filmmaker Anurag Kashyap, who started out as a writer in Bollywood, was married to his college sweetheart Aarti Bajaj and the two have an adorable daughter Aaliyah together. 3. Saif Ali Khan

Saif Ali Khan was very young when he entered Bollywood and he married an older and more successful actress, Amrita Singh at the time. After two children with her, Saif and Amrita separated and later divorced. He was dating Italian actress Rozza Catalano for a while, until he was smitten with Bebo – Kareena Kapoor who is now this Nawab’s Begum and is expecting his child any time in November or December! Saifu, as he is called fondly, already has two children from Amrita – Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim, both young and getting ready for their Bollywood debut once they finish their studies.

4. Sanjay Dutt

Sanjay Dutt’s first wife Richa died of cancer. He has a daughter, Trishala, with his first wife. The girl was brought up by her maternal grandparents in the USA. Sanjay meanwhile got mired in the 1993 serial blasts case, during which model Rhea Pillai supported him. The two got married on Valentine’s Day.

5. Aditya Chopra

Before getting hitched to the Bollywood beauty Rani Mukerji in 2014, Aditya Chopra was married to Payal Khanna from 2001 to 2009. The two were childhood friends who got married but separated soon after, just as the romance between Adi and his heroine Rani Mukerji flourished. Having no children from his first marriage, Aditya and Rani have a little girl Adira Chopra, born in 2016.

6. Siddharth Roy Kapur

Actress Vidya Balan’s handsome husband is smitten with her, but he was married twice before saying ‘I do’ to her. Siddharth’s first wife was his childhood sweetheart, and his second wife was a television producer. The former UTV Motion Pictures’ CEO got married to Vidya Balan in 2012, a few months after his divorce in 2011.

7. Kishore Kumar

The inimitable superstar, the singer, the actor, the director, the madman – Kishore Kumar! Only he could have been married four times, couldn’t he? But the reasons were different than polygamy. Kishore Kumar’s first wife was Ruma Guha Thakurta, a Bengali singer-actress. Their marriage lasted from 1950 to 1958. The genius singer’s second wife was Madhubala, who is still remembered as the most beautiful actress of Indian cinema! Kishore and Madhubala starred in many films together and their chemistry culminated in marriage in 1960. But it was tough, as Madhubala was never accepted by Kishore Kumar’s family and stayed separately. She died of a condition – she had a hole in her heart. Years later, in 1976, Kishore Kumar married actress Yogeet Bali but the marriage lasted till 1978. He later got hitched to actress Leena Chandavarkar and remained so.

8. Vidhu Vinod Chopra

The director of films like Parinda and 1942: A Love Story, and producer of blockbusters like the Munna Bhai series and 3 Idiots, Vidhu Vinod Chopra is a prolific filmmaker. His choice of partners have also been related to his profession. Vidhu’s first marriage was with famous film editor, the late Renu Saluja. His second wife was Shabnam Sukhdev, the daughter of a short-film maker. After his divorce, he married journalist Anupama Chopra, who is now an acclaimed author, film critic and show host. They have been together for more than 20 years. Vidhu has three children from his marriages – son Agni Dev and daughters Isshaa Chopra and Zuni Chopra.

9. Kamal Haasan

Recently there was news of actor-filmmaker Kamal Haasan separating from his partner Gauthami. But not many know that before being with the actress, he was married to Bollywood actress Sarika with whom he has two daughters, Shruti Haasan and Akshara Haasan. However, before his rendezvous with Sarika, he was married to Vani Ganpathy.

10. Boney Kapoor

The film producer was married to the late Mona Kapoor and had two children with her, Arjun Kapoor, now an actor, and Anshula Kapoor. Boney Kapoor broke Mona Kapoor’s heart when he had an affair with the heroine of his films, the very talented actress Sridevi. Boney and Sridevi got married to each other and have two daughters, Jhanvi Kapoor and Khushi Kapoor.

11. Vindu Dara Singh

The Bigg Boss 3 winner Vindu Dara Singh, earlier more famous for being the legendary actor-wrestler Dara Singh’s son and having played Lord Hanuman on TV, was married to Bollywood actress Farah and has son with her. He is now married to model Dina Umaova and has a daughter with her.

12. Farah and Sumeet Saigal

Farah moved on and married actor Sumeet Saigal, for whom too, it was a second marriage. He was earlier married to Shaheen and has a daughter, actress Sayyesha Saigal, with her.

13. Neelima Azim

Shahid Kapoor’s mother, actress Neelima Azim has been married thrice. She was married to Pankaj Kapur (Shahid’s dad) between 1975 and 1984, and later to actor Rajesh Khattar (1990 to 2001). In 2004, she married Ustad Raza Ali Khan but separated in 2009. It is said Neelima was the Ustad’s fourth wife.

14. Pankaj Kapur

After separating from Neelima Azim, the virtuoso actor-filmmaker married actress Supriya Pathak and they have two children.

15. Lucky Ali

This popular singer, the son of yesteryear’s comedian Mehmood, has been married thrice. Lucky Ali’s first wife was Meaghan Jane McCleary, the girl from New Zealand who acted in his famous music video O Sanam. The singer has two children from his first wife, Ta’awwuz and Tasmia. He later married Inaya and has two children from her – Sara and Raiyan. Lucky Ali is currently married to Kate Hallam, a British model and former beauty queen, since 2010. Kate and Lucky have a son, Dani Maqsood Ali.
