Cops look through CCTV footage to check if Navi Mumbai daycare centre assaulted other kids
The parents of the injured girl along with some NGO volunteers will meet Navi Mumbai police commissioner Hemant Nagrale on Friday afternoon to request to add attempt to murder charge (section 307 of the Indian Penal Code) to this case
The Kharghar police are going through the CCTV footage of play school and nursery at Kharghar’s Sector 10 in Navi Mumbai to find out if there were earlier instances of minors being assaulted.
On Wednesday, the police arrested the owner of the daycare centre and one help for allegedly assaulting a nine-month-old girl, causing severe injuries on her head and bleeding in her brain. The girl is still under medical observation.
Senior police inspector Dilip Kale of Kharghar police station said, “After this incident came to light, we started checking the CCTV footage of the daycare centre. So far, nothing objectionable has been found, barring this incident. We will take some time to check all the footage.”
The police have booked the accused under section 325 and 34 of the Indian Penal Code and section 23 of Juvenile Justice Act, 2000.
While owner of daycare centre 34, was released on bail on the same day, the help has been remanded in police custody.
Meanwhile, the parents of the injured girl along with some NGO volunteers will meet Navi Mumbai police commissioner Hemant Nagrale on Friday afternoon to request to add attempt to murder charge (section 307 of the Indian Penal Code) to this case.
“The CCTV footage clearly shows how the help was hurling our baby on the floor. The police should definitely apply the attempt to murder charge,” said the girl’s father.
