Former Congress MP Jagmeet Singh Brar has joined the Trinamool Congress (TMC). He is ad hoc president of party’s Punjab unit. This announcement was made in Delhi by TMC vice-president Mukul Roy today.  Brar, who has merged his Lok Hit Abhiyan with the TMC, said he and his supporters would support AAP in the 2017 Assembly elections.

Brar, who met TMC chief and West Bangal CM Mamata Banerjee in Delhi yesterday, said: “I extended unconditional support to AAP in Punjab after due consultations with Mamataji and my decision to join the TMC is part of a larger initiative to build a national alternative. I will fight the Abdalis in Punjab with Kejriwal and the Tughlaks in Delhi with Mamataji.”

He said neither he nor his supporters had joined AAP.
