H S Lucky, who is likely to contest from ward 1, posted pictures of the messy area of sectors 8 A, B and C, stating that the BJP councillor of the area did not show any interest and this was not what the residents of this ward deserved.

“These are pictures of sectors 8 A,B and C of ward 1 which happens to be one of the most so called posh sectors of City Beautiful. It is evident from pictures that the state of this sector is in doldrums. The incumbent BJP councillor has not shown any interest in our sector and civic amenities are in a pathetic condition,” Lucky posted on the Facebook.

Festive offer

Initially, Congress leader Manish Tewari’s loyalist Chandramukhi Sharma was in the race to contest from ward 1.

The Congress has not yet announced its official list, as there was dispute over the names of few candidates. The list is expected to be announced in a day or two.

Lucky told the Chandigarh Newsline: “No it is not a sort of campaigning. I am just raising the issues of this ward. I am the general secretary of the Congress and I am highlighting issues that people raise. This ward is totally in a shambles. I wonder what did the BJP councillor do here as it is totally in a neglect.”

The BJP councillor of the ward, Raj Bala Malik, who would be contesting from ward 2 now said: “I know what I have done for this ward. If one does 99 percent work, the opposition party will show the rest one percent negative only. My ward is the most beautiful ward.”
