JAISALMER: Historical Tanot will be developed as new tourist spot as part of border tourism. For the said purpose, Union Ministry of Culture along with Ministry of Tourism has prepared a plan of Rs 25 crore to make Tanot Longewala circuit area as tourist spot. BSF DG K K Sharma is the man behind all this.
The 1200 years old Tanot Mateshawari temple draws hundreds of devotees every year and it was the witness to the historical Indo-Pak war of 1971.

Looking to this, BSF DG K K Sharma has started efforts to include Tanot Longewala in tourism map and the ministry has given its approval to develop Tanot as new tourist spot for which a budget of Rs 25 crore has been sanctioned. In this regard, Sharma wrote to Jaislmer sector north DIG Amit Lodha recently and has directed to make a complete plan.
DIG Amit Lodha, confirming to make a new circuit of Tanot Longewala as new tourist spot,0 said that Tanot will be developed as new tourist hub on the directions of BSF IG B R Meghwal. A grand museum will also be constructed at Tanot, along with a memorial park in which war stories of India and Pakistan will be in display. Status of martyrs along with their achievements will also be set up in this park. Tourist can have refreshments in cafeteria within the park. DIG Lodha said that this project will boost tourism in Jaisalmer.
Meanwhile, another person associated with ‘Tiranga meri shan’ campaign has started the process to set up a 130 feet long national flag on pillar number 609 at Babliyan border outpost on the lines of Atari border.
Confirming this, Kunal Didwali said that process has been started to set up a national flag at border pillar number 609. He said that he has spoken to Lodha and a letter has been written to Sharma for approval. As the length of flag will be over 130 feet and will fly round the clock, there will be no need to keep it half-mast in the evening.
Kunal said that he has already placed order for the flag, which will be 9 metre long and 6 metre wide for which 130 feet long pipe will be made. The flag will be ready in two months and will be set up on getting approval.
