Pune: Government decision on demonetisation to hurt public for more time, says Congress

Hitting out at the BJP-led Union government for improper planning to handle demonetisation decision, state Congress spokesperson Anant Gadgil Thursday said the situation due to has led to huge loss to Indian economy and the shortage of currency notes would last for at least next seven months.

Addressing the media, he said the trade has been hard-hit with all business coming to standstill in last 15 days and it has caused an estimated loss of Rs 25 lakh crore to the economy.

“A large number of man hours have gone waste with people made to stand in queue for getting new denomination. They have suffered a lot due the poor planning before declaring demonetisation,” said Gadgil, adding, the unorganised sector has faced the maximum brunt of the current situation. New steps every day to handle demonetisation has further created a chaotic situation, he said, adding, there was no section of society that was not affected due to the demonetisation and the poor people with limited savings were the major sufferers.
