DCP's wife claims cheating; forged her signature, sold her land in Vijayawada

Police officer forged documents and sold property, court told.

Hyderabad: South Zone Additional DCP K Baburao’s wife, K. Vedasri, filed a petition with a city court alleging that her husband, along with another woman Tayyaba Tasneem, forged her signature and using the woman’s photos instead of hers in documents, sold her land in Vijayawada without her knowledge.

She appealed to the Court to order an inquiry into the incident as her husband could influence the police if they are entrusted with the inquiry. This is the second petition filed by her against Mr Baburao. She filed a petition in August against him seeking maintenance. The case is under trial.

Vedasri, in her petition, said that when she was thrown out of the house, Baburao did not give her the documents related to approximately 300 square yard land in Vijayawada which she inherited from her parents. “He kept the documents in his possession and drove me out of the home,” she said.

She said that using the same documents, Baburao and Tayyaba replaced her pictures in the original document with Tayyaba’s and made a general power of attorney (GPA) with one Sunkari Krishna. Tayyaba and Krishna sold the land to Ms Bhavaraju Sri Sita.

All this process happened without her knowledge and consent, Vedasri claimed. She appealed to the court to conduct an inquiry. “The court took cognizance of our petition, started the trial and asked us to provide evidence for the petition in the next hearing. We hope justice will be delivered,” Vedasri’s counsel, K R Dasaratha Raj said.

Baburao said that the land was gifted to their second daughter Prapujitha by Vedasri’s father, late C Kannaiah, when she separated from him in 1994. “I can respond only after knowing the contents of the petition. I am also trying to get the copy of land documents to know how her signatures were forged and the land was sold to a stranger,” he said.
