Delhi: 23-year-old woman found hanging, husband and in-laws booked

Police said that they were booked on the complaint of the victim’s father, Prem Singh, a resident of Rithola village in Dadri.

The husband and in-laws of a 23-year-old woman were booked for dowry death and harassment after she was found hanging at her house at Bisrakh in Uttar Pradesh’s Gautam Buddh Nagar on Thursday.

Police said that they were booked on the complaint of the victim’s father, Prem Singh, a resident of Rithola village in Dadri. Singh has alleged that his son-in-law, Deepak, and his family had threatened to kill Manju for getting less dowry. He had expressed his inability in meeting their demands citing his financial condition.

“Around 2 am on… (Thursday) Titu (Manju’s brother-in-law) called me and said that my daughter has committed suicide,” Singh told the police. “When I reached their house at 6 am, I saw my daughter lying on the floor of a room downstairs.” Singh alleged that that his daughter was hanged for dowry. No arrests had been made till evening. Police said they were waiting for the post mortem report.
