Mussoorie, November 24
Residents living around Jain Dharamshala, near Landour Bazaar, are irked at an overflowing sewer on the road for the past several days due to the apathy of the Jal Sansthan, Mussoorie. The residents, especially students, are forced to bear the stench emanating from the overflowing sewer every morning and evening on their way to and return from the school.
Womenfolk allege the passing vehicles splash dirty water on their clothes while passing the spot. Vimla, a resident of Landour Bazaar, said the overflowing water from the sewer covers a large part of the road making it difficult for pedestrians to pass the spot without covering their nose with a piece of cloth. The officials concerned had been reminded of the problem on several occasions in the past but to no avail.
The residents have asked Jal Sansthan officials to immediately repair the sewer line or else they will be forced to launch a massive agitation against the department.
Executive Engineer SK Saini, when contacted, said he would look into the matter and try to rectify the problem soon.
