Wisconsin was big deal this year. Wisconsin’s 10 electoral votes went for Trump. Russ Feingold failed to win his senate seat back. I was reading on the news that it was shocking or an upset in fact it was quite the opposite. At Least in Wisconsin.
Gaylord Nelson is still is very popular in Wisconsin. We have state parks schools that are named after Gaylord Nelson. Nelson founded the conservation holiday Earth Day. The Knowles/Nelson stewardship program is named after Gaylord Nelson.
In 1980, Gaylord Nelson was defeated by Congressman Bob Kasten. There is no Bob Kasten state park. No holiday he founded. However, he was the congressman propelled by having Ronald Reagan at the top of the ticket. Kasten was re-elected but was defeated in 1992 by Russ Feingold. In 2010 Russ Feingold was defeated by a person no one has ever even heard before. Ron Johnson and Bob Kasten are nothing more than conservative senators who benefited from a movement and top of the ticket.
In 2016 Kasten was named to be part of Donald Trump’s foreign policy advisory team. Going so far as to campaigning for him in Wisconsin. With Tommy Thompson stumping for Trump the old guard is back in Wisconsin. The people in power Scott Walker Ron Johnson, Robin Vos and Scott Fitzgerald. They are more power hungry. They don't want to compromise. They drew the maps to favor their party. It is going to be a rough road in the state of Wisconsin. If Wisconsin Dems don't figure this out Wisconsin will be like Kansas.
