Notice to civic officials for going AWOL

Two civic officials of the Mira Bhayander Municipal Corporation (MBMC), municipal commissioner Naresh Gite and assistant municipal commissioner Kalpita Pimple, have been issued showcause notices on Nov 21 for disappearing from office during working hours even as people were queuing up to pay their taxes using the defunct notes. The officers are yet to respond to the notices.After demonetisation, the state government had allowed municipal bodies to accept the defunct notes for payment of various taxes like water tax, property tax, local body tax, open land tax.
