Sahitya Aaj Tak is an endeavour to preserve Hindi literature: Kalli Purie

Sahitya Aaj Tak is a literary festival aimed at bringing together the biggest names in the Hindi literature. A host of scholars, poets, writers, musicians, actors and artists will participate in the event.

Welcoming the guests at the event held at the Indira Gandhi National Centre for Arts in the the national capital, India Today Group Editorial Director Kalli Purie expressed her disappointment on how Hindi literature was not being given the importance it deserves.

Talking about the wonderful streaks of Hindi literature such as traditional storytelling, Urdu poetry mushairas, Qawwali sessions, she said "It is our endevour to preserve this heritage for our future generations to cherish."

Kalli Purie signed off with the note - "Jai Hind, Jai Hindi" - and a desire to give due acknowledgement to all the languages of India.


Sahitya Aaj Tak is one of those moments when the people with most sensitive hearts and greatest minds converge at one place. On Saturday and Sunday, there will be what is going to be the biggest confluence of Indian literati in New Delhi.

The two-day engagement will witness the topmost literary luminaries of the country congregating under one roof.

Among the top names to grace the occasion are Javed Akhtar, Anupam Kher, Ashutosh Rana, Kumar Vishwas, Prasoon Joshi, Piyush Pandey, Anurag Kashyap, Chetan Bhagat, Kapil Sibal among others.

Other participants and speakers at the Sahitya Aaj Tak include Najeeb Jung, Hans Raj Hans, Manoj Tiwari, Anuja Chauhan, Ravinder Singh, Chitra Mudgal, Ashok Vajpeyi, Kedar Nath Singh, Uday Prakash, Malini Awasthi, Darain Shahidi, Uday Mahurkar, Hariom Panwar, Ashok Chakradhar, Popular Meeruthi, Govind Vyas, Rahat Indori, Nawaz Deobandi, Rajesh Reddy, Swanand Kirkire, Nasira Sharma, Maiteyi Pushpa, Shazi Zaman and Devdutt Patnaik.
