Gary Moore identified the Betfair Hurdle at Newbury as the main objective for Krugermac in the second half of the season.

Having won the Grade Three contest on three previous occasions, the West Sussex handler feels the five-year-old could also develop into an ideal contender for the race.

Krugermac has not been seen since he suffered a tendon injury at Lingfield last December, having previously impressed on his hurdling debut at Ascot, but is close to a return to action.

Moore said: "He couldn't go in that ground at Lingfield. He was beaten in a bog that day.

"The winner (Chef D'Oeuvre) went there and did a job that day and galloped us into the ground.

"He came back with a tendon injury after that, but he is cantering now. He is an exciting horse that we are looking forward to a lot.

"He has only raced twice over hurdles and I would like to train him for the Betfair Hurdle, which would mean he would need a run or two before then, but he could quite easily do that in the middle of December."
