The Valais resort of Saas-Fee has confirmed skiers and snowboarders will get their hands on a season pass for the impressively low price of 222 francs ($218) after 75,000 people signed up for the crowdfunded deal.

Saas-Fee, known for its high altitude slopes, launched the deal in October in an effort to attract more winter sports fans to the resort.

Using the crowdfunding principle, the resort promised to offer the bargain pass only if 99,000 people signed up for it before November 27th.

At just 222 francs, the pass would be an 80 percent discount on a regular season pass and lower even than a four-day ski pass.

Unsurprisingly, people flocked to the website to sign up, and with a week to go more than 77,000 people have registered, which Saas-Fee boasts on its website makes it “the most successful crowdfunding project in European history.”

As a result, despite not yet reaching the target, Saas-Fee has already decided to make good on its promise.

Speaking to The Local, Claudine Perrothon of the Saas Fee tourist office said: “We are very happy about the amount of people who supported our innovative product and believed in it.”

They decided to make the pass available before the target was reached “because we want to thank all participants for their support,” she said.

It’s not too late to jump on the bandwagon. The registration for the deal will stay open as planned until Sunday November 27th.

“So we are still on track to reach 99’999 registered people,” said Perrothon.

There is also a deal on three-year passes, available at 622 francs under the crowdfunding offer.
