Natrang’s ‘Ghumayee’ staged at Bhopal

BHOPAL, Nov 23: Internationally acclaimed Dogri play ‘Ghumayee’ written and directed by Balwant Thakur was staged here this evening on the concluding day of Jammu Kashmir Mahotsav at Bharat Bhawan, Bhopal.
Known to be the ultimate identity of Dogri culture and intellectual heights, this play established the fact that Dogras will never get this kind of cultural elevation which this play has given to its language and culture by bringing appreciation from all over the globe. Natrang artists were at their high in their performance and every sequence of the play was greeted with repeated applauds and  the culmination was saluted with standing ovation.
A 45 member team of Natrang artists is here in Bhopal with two of its highly acclaimed plays ‘Mere Hisse Ki Dhoop Kahan Hai’  and ‘Ghumayee’ to attend the closing ceremony of Jammu Kashmir Mahotsav which was inaugurated with the Santoor Recital by legendry musician Pt Shiv Kumar Sharma.
“Ghumayee” is a play based on Dogri Folk Tale of a hilly village and opens with a ‘Vidai’ scene after the solemnization of marriage and bride is being carried in a ‘Doli’ to her in-law’s place.
Natrang actors who gave incredible performances and outshined brilliantly included Anil Tickoo, Vikrant Sharma, Gauri Thakur, Suresh Kumar, Neeraj Kant,  Sumeet Sharma,  Subash Jamwal and  Rahul Singh. They were supported by the remarkable acting by Aishwarya Sathe, Aarushi Thakur, Vansikha Sharma, Gopi Sharma, Mihir Gujral, Sanket Bhagat, Sanchita Dubey, Shivam Singh, Gautam Kumar, Mohit Koul and Yash Manhas The lights were designed by Suraj Ganjoo and Sound was audiographed by Mohd Yaseen. Suraj Singh’s out of the world singing won the hearts of all the audiences and his compositions won all-round appreciations. Rakesh Kumar and Goutam Sharma looked after the stage management.
