Debate on Demonetization resumes in Rajya Sabha in presence of PM Modi, then discontinues after uproar

New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Rajya Sabha today after which opposition resumed discussion on demonetization. Former Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh, Congress MP and leader of opposition Ghualm Nabi Azad, Samajwadi Party MP Naresh Agrawal, TMC MP Derek and BSP’s Mayavati spoke in presence of Prime Minister about demonetization. After lunch, the opposition again halted the proceeding of Rajya Sabha insisting that Prime Minister should come again and sit to listen to entire debate. Leader of House Arun Jaitley in reaction said there’s no tradition that Prime Minister should sit in the house and attend entire debate. In reply leader of opposition Ghulam Nabi Azad said BJP had insisted for then Prime Minister’s presence in the house when 2G scam was discussed. Then PM had agreed to sit for two days during entire debate. The house was adjourned. The house met again at 3.00 pm when opposition again demanded PM’s constant presence during the discussion. After uproar, the house was adjourned till 11.00 am tomorrow.
