Vadodara girl wins national racing championship

Mira Erda, who has won several go-karting championships, brought laurels to the city yet again. She won the Formula 4 National Racing Championship in the rookie class category introduced for the first time this year.

VADODARA: Mira Erda, who has won several go-karting championships, brought laurels to the city yet again. She won the Formula 4 National Racing Championship in the rookie class category introduced for the first time this year.
The 16-year-old raced in four rounds between July and November and topped the category on the basis of average point.
Mira, who drove a 1,300 CC swift engine-fitted car, beat 10 other racers who participated in the rookie class category.
“It was a tough race. There were some ups and downs during the four rounds but I gave my best in the final leg and won the race,” Mira told TOI.
She participated in the three rounds held in Coimbatore and the last round organized in Noida three days ago.
Mira was also awarded the most outstanding performance in women’s category award after the championship.
She has the distinction of being the youngest girl in the country to participate in go-karting championship and she went on race in her first international race in Malaysia in 2010. Her father Kirit owns a go-karting racing track in the city, aims to become a Formula one champion.
