Digital Haryana cell to be set up in CMO
Chandigarh: After setting up ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ cell, now the state government has decided to set up a Digital Haryana Cell in the chief minister’s office (CMO) in an attempt to effectively implement various e-governance initiatives of the state.
Official sources said the government is encouraged with the output of ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ cell which has prompted to set up similar cells to push Digital India programme.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had launched the ‘Beti Bachao Beti Padhao’ campaign from Panipat in January 2015 and four months after it, Haryana CM Manohar Lal Khattar had set up a cell to closely monitoring the campaign from CMO.
The officials claim the state has shown significant improvement in the child sex ratio since 2015. State, according to officials, now will be the first state in the country to have a digital cell in the CMO, which will have about half a dozen IT experts with experience in the government sector including half of them part time.
Experts have already started arriving at state civil secretariat to launch the cell, though, it may take six weeks to formally launch the unit. “The government won’t have to bear any financial burden for the cell because the experts would be hired by private companies under corporate social responsibility,” said an official. These experts will assist the chief minister to bring transparency in the government set-up.
Khattar, who was presiding over a meeting on state resident data base here on Wednesday, said the digital cell would help in implementing e-governance projects, new initiatives and would also keep a close watch on the new developments taking place in the field of e-governance in the world.
