The Border Roads Organization (BRO) has restored the 110-feet-long Lote Bailey Bridge, situated at Sansari Nullah, 16 km from the main district headquarters of Keylong in tribal district Lahaul and Spiti. The bridge had collapsed on November 14, leaving the residents of Udaipur subdivision cut off from the rest of the region.
Talking to The Tribune here today BRO Commander AK Awasthi said that the bridge had been restored for traffic. The restoration work had been completed within one week. It was on November 14 when an overloaded vehicle was passing over it that the bridge suddenly collapsed.
This road leads from Keylong to Shinkula-Killar and Throt (SKT) in the valley and now people of the area would be relieved as they were facing difficulty because of lack of transportation facility since after the collapse of the bridge.
People appreciated the efforts of the BRO personnel and demanded that overloaded vehicles should not be allowed to ply on such bridges.
