This one is for Bhagyaraj, says Parthiban
Actor-director Radhakrishnan Parthiban is planning to turn the audio launch of his upcoming film Koditta Idangalai Nirappuga as a tribute function for K Bhagyaraj, whom he had assisted early in his career. Spilling the beans about this event, he says, In 2001, I had launched a film called Yelelo, which couldnt materialise for some reason. I had conducted that launch as a felicitation function for Kamal Haasan, AR Rahman, Mani Ratnam and Thota Tharani.
Similarly, I want this audio launch to be a tribute to the man who gave me my life K Bhagyaraj sir. Parthiban, who had cast Bhagyarajs son, Shanthnu, as the films lead as a way of paying his respects to his guru, adds, Generally, we organise such tribute functions only after it has become overdue. By then the person we are celebrating would have become extremely old; hardly able to walk, even. But I want to celebrate Bhagyaraj sir right now.
The audio launch, he says, will be a small part of this larger event, which will happen on December 4. I want all the directors who have assisted Bhagyaraj sir to be part of this tribute. We are in the initial stages of planning. We have only begun ideating now, so, on what scale this event will happen will be decided in the coming days, he says. He informs that he is trying to invite the stars Bhagyaraj worked with to this event. I even intend to invite Amitabh Bachchan, with whom he made Aakhree Raasta, to be here to honour him, reveals Parthiban, and adds that a few like-minded filmmakers have expressed interest in being part of this. I have a special attachment towards K Balachander even though I have not worked with him. Similarly, there are some filmmakers who are attached to Bhagyaraj sir, even though they havent worked with him. Im planning to bring them together to organise this event, he says.
