‘Sathriyan’ director Subash, 57, dies of multiple organ failure
CHENNAI: Tamil film director K Subash, 57, who made 20 films in a career spanning 27 years, died due to multiple organ failure at a private hospital here on Wednesday.
Film personalities including Maniratnam, Parthiban, Nasser, Vishal and Karthi paid respects to the director. Subash’s funeral will be at the Nungambakkam crematorium 11am on Thursday. Subash is survived by wife and two daughters.
Having begun his career as an assistant to director Maniratnam in ‘Nayagan’ (1987), Subash recently wrote the Shah Rukh Khan-starrer ‘Chennai Express’, while also penning other Hindi films like Dilwale and Housefull 3.

Subash is the son of Krishnan, of the Krishnan-Panju duo which directed hits like ‘Parasakthi’ and ‘Ratha Kanneer’.
The high point of his career was Vijayakanth-starrer ‘Sathriyan’ which went on to become a hit.
Subash worked with several leading actors like Ajith, Sathyaraj and Prabhu and directed films like ‘Bramma’, ‘Pavithra’, ‘Ninaivirukkum Varai’ and ‘Suyamvaram’. Subash’s first directorial venture was Prabhu-starrer ‘Kaliyugam’.
