Junior engineer nabbed for taking bribe of Rs 10,000 in Kalyan

KALYAN: The Thane Anti Curruption Bureau has arrested junior engineer of Education Department of Kalyan-Dombivli municipal corporation for taking bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor to clear her bill in Kalyan. The accused Prakash Chaudhari had demanded bribe of Rs 1 lakh from contractor K Vrushali which was later settled down on amount of Rs 85,000.
The ACB official said that Chaudhari was caught red handed near HDFC bank while taking first installment money of Rs 10,000.
The ACB caught him while accepting five new currency of Rs 2000 each totalling Rs 10,000. Talking to TOI, Vrushali said, "I have taken one school's ground levelling work of Rs 5 lakh and to clear my bill there was need to make measurements of work done and for this accused was demanding bribe of Rs 1 lakh".
