PhotoVogue @ Base: the opening

The female body and its representation is at the centre of the grand opening of Photo Vogue Festival, the first festival dedicated entirely to fashion photography. Yesterday, the venue of Base Milano saw the opening of The Female Gaze, a group exhibition co-curated by Alessia Glaviano and Chiara Bardelli Nonino, which displays photographs that have revolutionised – or are revolutionising – the way the female body and sexuality are portrayed in fashion photography. Alongside this, another exhibition presents the works of selected photographers scouted via the PhotoVogue platform. Ahead of the opening, an event titled ‘A Conversation with Vanessa Beecroft’ (who is in Milan with a major retrospective exhibition opening this evening at Palazzo Reale) was held by Vogue Italia’s Senior Photo Editor, Alessia Glaviano who is running the Photo Vogue Festival chaired by Franca Sozzani.
