Land grab accused was once a police informer

BILASPUR: Abhay Singh, one of the four persons arrested by Shankargarh police of Balrampur district in north Chhattisgarh, has had a chequered history- from a police informer he eventually turned into a land grabber and presently is in judicial custody.
According to police sources they have also not been able to establish Abahy Singh's residential address. He claims to belong to Shankargarh, where his maternal relatives live and he has also supplied Marwahi as his residential place.Sources informed that Abhay Singh became a police informer sometimes in 2003.As Maoists activities were frequent then in north Chhattisgarh , his inputs proved to be very useful to police whch drew him closer to many senior officials. He began threatening common people in the area boasting of his closeness with senior police officials. Sources claim that Abhay Singh also began extorting money from people.Police sources claim that Abhay Singh has also grabbed lands belongings to others using fraudulent means, which they are probing.
