KOLLAM: In a suspected case of murder, the wounded bodies of two men were found in an abandoned tile factory near Soundarya Junction at Perayam near Kundara here by the police on Tuesday evening. The police identified the deceased as Surendran (48) and Suku (45), both neighbours as well as relatives, residing at Perayam here.
Kundara circle-inspector Ramesh said that the bodies were found in the factory around 5pm.
There are injuries on the bodies which suggests that they were beaten up using the interlocking tiles in the factory. Injuries suffered on the heads are suspected to be the cause of death of both the men, he said.
Their skulls were cracked open when police found their bodies.
"We suspect that this is a result of a drunken brawl," said CI Ramesh.
Both the deceased resided near to the factory and used to visit the factory regularly for drinking. The place was also a permanent hangout of anti-socials.
According to local residents, it was some fisher women who heard the screams from the factory around 4pm. They alerted the local residents, who in turn inspected the factory and found the bodies.
The police have taken two of the acquaintances of the deceased men into custody on suspicion. They have also recovered a few liquor bottles from the spot.
The postmortem will be conducted on Wednesday, following which the bodies will be handed over to their respective families.
